About
Award-winning historian and broadcaster Bettany Hughes explores the seven wonders of the world and asks why we create and why we remember the wonder of others. Hughes says the seven wonders – The Great Pyramid at Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Temple of Artemis, the statue of Zeus at Olympia, the mausoleum of Halikarnassos, the Colossus at Rhodes and the Lighthouse of Alexandria were audacious impositions on the planet. Only the great pyramid still stands but Hughes says they have all left their traces in history and still enthral us today.
