About
Direct from an acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival, and following the success of the Oscar-winning film Hamnet, this compelling drama offers a fascinating insight into William Shakespeare – the man behind the legend. It is 1606. England is gripped by fear and uncertainty. Isolated in his lodgings to avoid a deadly contagion, Shakespeare finds himself living through turbulent times. A suspicious King James, shaken by the recent Gunpowder Plot, sees conspiracies everywhere, while closer to home, Shakespeare struggles with demands from every direction. Actors clamour for new roles.
