About
eventula is a map of what’s happening along the Croatian coast — concerts, town fiestas, markets, exhibitions and festivals — sorted by how far they are from wherever you happen to be standing.
Right now it carries 2,685 events across 51 places, covering Istria & Kvarner, Zadar & the islands, Šibenik-Knin, Split & central Dalmatia and Dubrovnik & the south. Those figures are counted from the live listings each time this page is built, so they are never a claim about somewhere we do not actually reach.
Why it exists
The events are not hidden — they are just scattered. Every town has its own tourist-board calendar, every venue its own page, and each one shows only its own programme. If you are staying somewhere for a week, there is no way to ask the obvious question: what is on near me, while I am here? Answering that meant gathering the calendars into one place and putting them on a map.
How the listings are gathered
eventula collects events from publicly available sources such as tourist board calendars and venue websites. Our system identifies itself, respects robots.txt, and a person reviews each event before it appears on the site.
If you represent an organisation and would prefer your events not to be listed, or if you have a preferred way for us to receive your data, please get in touch. We would rather take a feed you maintain than read a page you did not write for us.
Event titles, descriptions and venue names are kept in the language they were published in. They are not translated, because a rewritten title is no longer the thing the organiser announced.
Where the name comes from
A ventula is the Dalmatian word for a hand fan — the folding kind you still see opened against the afternoon heat. Event carries the same vent, so the two words fold into one. The mark at the top of every page is that fan, opened; the coral dot at its pivot is the same dot that marks you on the map.
What it doesn’t do
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No advertising, and no paid placement — the order of the list is distance, nothing else.
- No analytics or tracking of any kind. If you let the map centre on you, your position never leaves your device — the details are on the privacy page.
Who makes it
eventula is built and run by one person, not a company with a newsroom. That is worth knowing for two reasons: a listing can be wrong, and an email actually reaches someone who can fix it the same day.
