About
Becoming is an immersive artwork by Helena Hamilton, developed with artists Janie Doherty and Aisling McGeown. It explores matrescence, the physical, emotional and psychological transformation of becoming a mother, through spatial sound, moving image, haptic sculpture and spoken word. Informed by research with mothers across generations, the work holds the complexity of early motherhood, where isolation and loneliness sit alongside resilience, joy, frustration and love.
